MATCHA OPENS ITS NEWEST LIFESTYLE CONCEPT IN ABU DHABI: AL BATEEN LADIES CLUB
The visionaries who changed the aesthetic of playing padel in Dubai at Matcha Club have opened the doors to their latest design-led masterpiece in Abu Dhabi. The Al Bateen Ladies Club by Matcha, building on its successful padel-centric offering in Dubai, has officially unveiled a first-of-its kind escapist destination in the capital.
The inclusive country club emerges as a chic space for women seeking the ultimate lifestyle experience. Within an atmosphere of challenge, energy, connection and enjoyment, guests can seamlessly immerse themselves in a meaningful community, while indulging in life’s finest pleasures.
Located on the shores of Al Bateen Beach with an expansive landscaped garden inspired by the flourishing greenery of Al Bateen itself, Al Bateen Ladies Club will not only offer Matcha Club’s distinct padel courts and experience, but will also offer a variety of group and private classes such as Pilates and Yoga, as well as an infinity pool and private beach, a spa, Mediterranean restaurant, concept store and florist and bakery, all under one exquisitely designed roof.
Open daily from 7am – 10pm, female guests can either choose between a Beach and Pool pass, priced AED 150 per person, or a Day Pass, priced at AED 350 per person. The Day Pass includes access to the gym, pool, and beach with a redeemable AED 100 credit for food and drink. For those seeking a more extended experience, the club offers multiple monthly or yearly membership options, starting from AED 14,900.
To make the club accessible to all, individuals wanting to pop-in just for fitness classes or spa treatments, explore the latest trends at the concept store, dine at the restaurant or engage in a game of padel have the option to pay à-la-carte for these experiences.
The club is also home to multiple enclosed and open-air event spaces curated to offer the perfect canvas for art shows, talks, lifestyle activations, or private events.
Inspired by Palm Springs and bohemian sophistication, nature and feminine energy is the driver of the club’s design, where grounding energy is palpable at every turn. Geometric arches, typical of Arabian architecture offer a contemporary twist with a balance of white and elegant neutrals, nestled within 20,000 sqm of surrounding greenery.
A ‘less is more’ approach has created a distinct personality for the space that reflects the adventurous soul of the brand (a mix of rich terracotta, mustard yellow and blush mauve), blending to welcome indoor spaces seamlessly with the natural outdoor beauty of the destination.
Winding pathways interspersed through serene gardens lead to an intimate shaded infinity pool where more colourful tiles glitter in the sun-drenched private beachfront location. Indulging the interests of its cultural and trendy clientele, mandarin-striped towels draped across 120 sun loungers across the pool and beach, offset the neutral surroundings.
Instantly recognisable is the stripped back aesthetic of three of Matcha’s iconic terracotta padel courts, punctuated with lush greenery.
In its commitment to cultivating an inclusive community for all, Al Bateen Ladies Club will introduce a dedicated kids club for girls (of all ages), and boys (up to 7 years of age), and also offer kid camps, both complete with a variety of sporting and cultural activities. As well as playing in the sea, children can also make the most of the outdoor playground with swings, slides, and monkey bars and enjoy the club’s indoor playground (perfect for the summer months). The team’s resounding attentiveness is particularly felt in gestures like ramps that have been installed at the private beach for people of determination to access the sea.
Day Passes will be priced at AED 100 per child.
For the cooler months, outdoor fitness areas have been fitted with rubber flooring to encourage nature-centric workouts. Indoors, the fitness studios offer a variety of functional training, HIIT and Reformer Pilates options. For those seeking a more tailored regime, private and group coaching sessions can be arranged.
For a change of pace, a sense of calm will be felt across the 400 sqm wellness area which will offer a respite from the cacophony of everyday life at the hands of skilled therapists.
Gastronomic adventures are a cornerstone of the club. The Mediterranean-inspired restaurant (opening after the holy month of Ramadan) will offer indoor and outdoor seating playing to the brand’s ethos of nature and tranquillity.
Until then, guests can enjoy the Sardine beach lounge, perfectly situated to take in the sunsets and two cafes – one poolside and another at the padel clubhouse – offer more ‘on-the-go’ options.
The retail therapy experience at Al Bateen Ladies Club aims to attract a community of discerning clientele who appreciate resort-style fashion, jewellery, gourmet chocolates and creative floral arrangements.
Al Bateen Ladies Club is poised to redefine the landscape of female lifestyle offerings in Abu Dhabi. The unparalleled fusion of recreation, wellness, and community all within the confines of an architectural masterpiece, form the ideal backdrop for a space where women can mindfully escape.
