A Conversation with Dilara Irmak
As we continue our Women’s Month series at MAIA, we turn our focus to the brilliant minds shaping the creative vision of our luxury PR and brand communications agency in Dubai.
This week, we feature Dilara Irmak, MAIA’s Creative Director, a woman whose artistry, innovation, and leadership breathe life into our storytelling.
Dilara’s journey is one of bold creativity and fearless ambition. In this conversation, she reflects on the inspirations that fuel her work, the role of women in shaping the future of luxury branding, and the profound influence of the motherly figures in her life. Her story reminds us that creativity is not just about aesthetics – it’s about vision, resilience, and the courage to break boundaries.
Join us as we explore Dilara’s world and celebrate the impact of women in the creative space.
What does Women’s Month mean to you personally, and how do you see its significance in the workplace?
To me, Women’s Month is a celebration of strength, independence, and opportunity. I’m proud that MAIA creates an environment of inclusivity and champions women’s roles in development and leadership.
How do you believe MAIA supports and empowers women within the company and the broader industry?
In MAIA’s work culture, there are lots of opportunities for women and any initiatives that promote women’s growth. Organising mentorships, working together on improving skillsets to be better version of ourselves. Shadi supports our initiatives and actively helps us grow.
Can you share a moment at MAIA when you felt particularly empowered or proud of your work?
When my personal skills and abilities were recognised and appreciated, and MAIA decided to launch MAIA Studio and help empower and grow my creativity.
Who are the women, either within or outside the industry, who have inspired you, and in what ways have they influenced your professional journey?
Jessica Walsh inspires me with her ability to break the rules in the most beautiful way – her fearless use of colour, storytelling, and emotion in both branding and photography reminds me that creativity has no limits
How has your mother or a motherly figure in your life influenced your career choices and professional development?
My mother has always encouraged me to pursue what I truly enjoy rather than following a conventional or “ideal” career path. Her support has given me the confidence to prioritize passion in my professional journey.
Can you share a specific lesson or piece of wisdom from your mother or a motherly figure that has guided you in your career?
My mother always told me to trust my intuition, which has guided me in making bold creative choices. I design with intuition in line with the story of the brand.
What advice would you give to other women aspiring to enter the luxury travel and hospitality PR industry?
Being confident and adaptable in an evolving industry and trend.
What legacy do you hope to leave for future generations of women at MAIA and beyond?
I believe in sharing knowledge and experiences that inspire other female creatives. When women feel empowered to lead, and trust our vision we achieve great things.
In one word, what does being a woman working at MAIA mean to you, and why?
Empowerment. Working at MAIA means having the freedom to create new projects while being part of a supportive and inspiring environment.
